Kindergeld calculator
Enter the date of birth or the due date and tell us what your child will do after turning 18. You will see how much Kindergeld there is and until when.
How much Kindergeld?
In 2026 it is €259 a month, the same for every child: €518 for two children, €777 for three. €267 is planned for 2027, but it has not been passed yet.
Until when?
Until the 18th birthday Kindergeld is always paid. After that until 25, as long as your child goes to school, does vocational training, studies, does a voluntary service or waits up to 4 months between two stages. If registered as job-seeking, until 21. With a disability that began before turning 25, without age limit.
The last month
Kindergeld is paid until the end of the month in which your child turns 18, 21 or 25. If the birthday is on the 1st, the month before is already the last one, because the year of age is completed on the day before the birthday.
Applying
Until the end of 2026 you apply at the Familienkasse. It pays retroactively for at most the 6 months before the month in which the application arrives. From 2027 the Familienkasse gradually pays without an application: first for further children, later in 2027 also for the first child. If you hear nothing from it after the birth, better apply yourself.
Kindergeld and Elterngeld
Kindergeld continues alongside Elterngeld and is not deducted. How much Elterngeld you get is shown by the Elterngeld calculator. If the other parent pays no maintenance, advance maintenance helps.
