Elterngeld and a minijob
A minijob counts for Elterngeld, before the birth and after. Here you see how much it gives you and how much it costs.
A minijob before the birth
A minijob is taxed at a flat rate. So no tax or social security is deducted, only one twelfth of the employee lump sum. With a low income the replacement rate goes up to 100 percent.
A minijob after the birth
If you work a minijob while getting Elterngeld, the difference to your net income before counts. Basic is cut, Plus often less. More than 32 hours a week is not possible.

Is Plus a good fit with a minijob?
That depends on your numbers. The calculator shows Basic and Plus with and without the minijob side by side.
