How much Elterngeld in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania?

Exactly as much as everywhere else: 65 to 100% of the Elterngeld net income before the birth, at least €300 and at most €1,800 Basic Elterngeld a month, plus any sibling bonus or multiple-birth supplement. This is set by the federal Elterngeld act, not by the state. How much you get is worked out by the calculator above; the Elterngeld table gives an overview.

Where to apply?

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the State Office for Health and Social Affairs is responsible, with regional offices (Versorgungsamt) in Neubrandenburg, Rostock, Schwerin and Stralsund. Which office covers where you live is listed at the LAGuS.

Applying online

Online you fill in the application on mein-elterngeldantrag.de, the successor of ElterngeldDigital, and log in with your BundID. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania this is a filling-in aid: the application cannot yet be sent electronically. At the end you print it, both parents sign (single parents alone), and you send it by post to the Elterngeld office.

Multiple births

With triplets or more, the state voluntarily pays a one-off €1,000 per child. You submit the application via the registration office; it must reach the State Chancellery within one year of the birth. Elterngeld also adds the multiple-birth supplement, see twins and multiples.

Deadline and documents

The Elterngeld office only pays back for the 3 months of life before the month of life in which the application arrives. The last day and a checklist are in how to apply for Elterngeld, how to split the months in the split planner.
